Deborah Weinswig was recently named Executive Director and Head of Global Retail & Technology for the Fung Business Intelligence Centre (FBIC). An award-winning global retail analyst and a specialist in retail innovation and technology, Weinswig has been tasked with strengthening the FBIC’s ability to provide insight into the disruptive technology trends and innovations that are reshaping the global retail industry.

She gained in-depth knowledge and understanding of global retail and technology trends in a series of previous positions, including Global Consumer Discretionary Sector Head at Citi Research, where she worked for nearly 12 years. Prior to joining Citi, she held senior research positions at Bear Stearns and Morgan Stanley.

Weinswig has consistently been rated one of the top analysts in her field by publications such as Institutional Investor (#1 for nine years), StarMine and Business Insider, which named her one of the top analysts on all of Wall Street in 2012. That year, she also received ICSC’s Researcher Award for Outstanding Service. In addition, she is frequently quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Barron’s, and on CNBC.

Weinswig is an advocate for innovation, creativity and the implementation of efficient technologies in the retail sector. She has helped US startups develop and implement retail technology systems and strategies, some of which have been adopted by top-tier, national retailers. She also serves as a mentor to Silicon Valley startup accelerators Alchemist Accelerator and Plug and Play, and sits on the advisory boards of several early-stage companies. Weinswig holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a Certified Public Accountant.
